Post processing... The pain / The pleasure

After sitting here while decompressing from the drive down from Colorado..I think the pain was worse than standard pain, and that was yesterday. Today started with my alarm going off when it shouldn't have and waking me up when I would rather not have been. Then there was the Cable company appointment at 0800 and HE SHOWED UP AT 0800!!! Who does that!???     So it turns out.. and I really should have known this... Never buy cables from Walmart unless you have a tester with you to check their continuity and resistance. Two bad purchased cables caused all the problems ( okay almost ) with the dropping out of channels. The other one was my lack of remembering. I failed to remember that the cable company boosted one link of my cable to deal with the multiple splits I had in it. I had disconnected it and moved the router and modem. So all in all..my bad. Then there was the sinus problems that came back gang busters. Sitting here now watching the room spin about and trying to type correct words.

I did surf through all the family scanned shots and the 800 plus shots from the Denver Zoo. I selected a few and spent some time with them while duct taped to the chair to avoid falling out of it. Quick edits. Nothing major. I completed the CB edit and its out the door. Ill apologize now for the odd content of that one. I did a few other things but they were quite mundane. Below are a few I did. I will add one before and after that I love because of the content.

Original shot scanned. Folded, spindled and scuffed....and a lot of misc spots.

Shot, leveled, junk removed, cropped for subject and final adjusts. I did a few more closer too. Scanning at 600 DPI allowed for some great zooming. I did correct the crease in the main picture and other creases here and there..... You want me to post that too huh... sheesh!

I wont be putting any other family shots here as I do not have their permission to do so. I have many but so many means its going to take a lot of time to go through them. There are many that are totally close to the heart.

The LOOKS. This little guy was just standing there on the rock across the water waiting for someone to come chat. Or for some food. Probably food. What was interesting in all the time we spent here was that there was a college student with a notebook just standing there. How I felt like she was assessing our reactions to what the animals were doing... It would be an interesting thing to do. I blame my nephew.

Tiger by the tail... not on your nelly! I wish she was in better focus but shooting through mucky glass... I am glad I got what I got.

Views. Nice medium sized giraffe. Large-ish space to roam around with but not really large enough. Zoos should be subsidized by the people who live in the city because they bring revenue into the city itself. Using that money for the animals spaces.. larger.... more varied and the viewing areas limited or if not limited then times the animals get breaks from the human animals. No small spaces for any animal.

Ta da...... done and I hope there are only a few errors in all this.

Lights spinning counter-clockwise making me feel like I am moving clockwise.. go ahead.. try it... get on a round about and start it spinning one way quickly.. and if you stare straight out it will start to seem as if you are really turning the other way. Or is it me? We could bring up the real over unreal again.. you want to play with that again.... I thought not!.. Round and round and lower and lower. My follower falling in towards me at that slow slow speed.... Other hand now visible with bloodied rag around the other hand!

Post Drive Conditions... Ice Cream!

Back in the ole Albuquerque Zone. Vehicle emptied. Things somewhat put away or sorted out. I am actively dumping pictures or processing as we speak. Its taking forever to convert them. I may have to do dual RAW and JPG shooting from now on. Ugh! The drive down from Above Denver around on the toll road and to Trinidad was pretty fast. Everyone was crusin and for the most part following the law and staying in the slow ( right ) lane unless they wanted to pass. What did cause a problem were the on ramps. People that were in the right lane would at at least 10 mph slower jump in the left lane so as to not be slowed down by those merging in.. which would cause a chain reaction and slow down the whole left lane speed train.

We stopped in Trinidad for gas and a lemonade... oh and a nice brown bear.. who the police allowed to return up the hill and into the forest again. Getting back on the road and entering New Mexico was not too bad. Getting to the lower part of Las Vegas it became a "Who can drive stupider" run. Avoiding the people who were not paying attention and drifting from lane to lane regardless of if there were cars there or not. Then the loons who would speed up.. pass you then directly slow down and make you have to avoid them.. ugh.. ugh! Made it home at last and I was happy to see it standing.

A couple of happy things on the way.. We saw a chase vehicle for Sundagger and saw Bill D and his balloon rig. I felt that I had friends around which is a good feeling. I had a wonderful time with the family. My Nieces and Nephews are so grown up.. just like I said in yesterdays blog.. surreal! As soon as I get this stuff downloaded I will post a few pre edit shots here... I know which ones I want to show already. When I have time I will edit and get those posted as well.. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks to the parents for putting up with us all again. Ill bet they were happy to sit in the quiet. We are a loud lot.

Distant and dependent. As the hex blackness opens fully with the points now pointing outwards I am getting smaller. Oh, The surface below my feet is dropping slowly, by my twisted perspective, downward. With this downward descent is a collapsing or downward flow of the color above me.Looks like a nice controlled tube of iridescent amber with me as the fly stuck inside. Down about four feet and the hand, other hand, body and chest, cute face all collapsing with me. It isn't seeming to hurt her but she is heading down the rabbit hole with me, just outside whatever I am in... I wonder if that's safe.....

Start of the day was with home made waffles by my Dad. Oh, stuffed! Then we sat around the table and we scanned and talked about family history and places, things, situations. My father is a font of knowledge..we were just now saying dad needs a Facebook or blog page where he can post his "dad's comment of the day". Dad has many good thoughts.. Just again now Dads daily was," leave things where you need them then you don't have to look for them at the time you DO need them" or something like that but said better. Funny.

So....yes.....scanned a lot of pictures. I really need to bring out my flatbed scanner too due to many pictures having hard backings. I thought I was being smart and bringing the doc scanner because it feeds automattically...oh well. Pictures included, dads 55 and 57 Chevys...amazing. Parents so stylish in white shirt with black tucked slacks, thin black belts...mom with pipe skirt to ankles billowy blouse ..just totally alive. Not that it's changed but how old we all are now. Just looking and my mercies and nephews... Ya just feel old. It's a distance thing. Pull back and overlay your memories of being the kids ages and your parents being your age then and it's all becomes surreal...loss of perspective. Tunnel. Vision. Where did the years go?

I have to do a bunch of editing to so but about 300+ photos. Awesome....there are even a lot of shots from when my dad was in Vietnam. On china beach, where there were snipers in towers to shoot the sharks if they came in towards the beach...mortar attacks, living in boxes and huts build by themselves. I thing centering first, then cleaning on contrast problems then color problems. At 600 dpi I should get some pretty good spread to clean up the shots. Can't wait. Soon. Oh, I also took some notes too. Best part was hearing the humor and memories of old friends and tales. I did many of mom and dad's wedding and many amazing out takes that I never knew existed. What a find!

Since the internet here is very dodgy I will try and get some funny things uploaded and I promise I will show some of the better shots from this weekends zoo trip and maybe a few family shots once I get the okay.

Chuckling.........is there else to do when the world goes tipsy turkey and you are egging it on?
The six brightly flashing shapes below my feet, turning either so quickly they are impossible to tell which way they are going or they are going so slowly that it's completely a waste of time.... It reminds me of a child's show...I can almost remember what comes next.... Is this supposed to make me feel calmer. I have the feeling I am being coddled here. That this isn't the usual way to go about things like this....and what to do about the girl..... The triangle are rotating along each center access...rotating and a black hexagram is forming in the center........

Went to the Denver zoo today. Very nice park. Most of the animals were still sleeping, it being a holiday and all. Lions were out gnawing on a few bones. Even from the distance we were from them the male was quite aware of us...probably considering how easy it would be...  Since when has Denver been so sloggy. Walking through a wet rag world. Apes were sad, orang's could care less, they had snacks. I rather like the open parks in England. Here as most zoo...too little space and no exact space away from prying eyes. A majority of the creatures were hiding where they could. The penguins we just standing there but then decided they had a large enough audience and started goofing around. Pictures soon. 800 taken, no time to dump and process though.

Photography was all over amazing. Not just the animals, the plants, flowers were bright and beautiful. I am positive that people thought me nuts for taking pictures of tree leaves. They were green, bright with a blue blue sky. That is one of the impressive things about upper Colorado... Blue skies unburnt. We get them in Albuquerque but most times they are too too bright.

Dropping my otherwise normal arms back down to the sides and dropping my gaze from the visage in front of me to the floor below.....just in time to see the counter clockwise rotation starting. Not by leaps and bounds but again slowly rotating..I can again see that that on the other side everything seems frozen completely again and a nice little musical ditty starts up. All in pipe organ music tones..Why is this so familiar? Where is this from.... This apparent on the other side of the wall is slap up against the wall....

Visiting the famblies today. Trying to listen ...coherently to four different conversations when all four are very informational or. And or. Laughing..we'll kinda tough. Should have brought mini clip on recorders and attached them to everyone. From family linkage ..which my father is a font of information..massive amounts...just a touch and I want to run massive searches...mainly my father father family in Slovakia and that was huge...also the other side of the family where they are spread....and finding out people have taken our name because it is so original..or not original but not common,...not common... Well.... Funny

Yellow tile, triangle hits with a carillon of pure tonality! The kind that brings up the hairs along your spine and shivers across your brain. As the shape integrates with the other five, time inside comes back and my arms fling upward like the pull of a puppet-masters fingers on the strings. Colors solidify, click click... wrrrrrr..... The hand outside slaps flat against the outside of the column... followed by a face clearly rememebered. The light below me starts rotate...hah... Counerclockwize..... duh...

Coming into a holiday weekenders extra things …sorry . . The first in a long time that I am taking time off and its a huge bucket of water being poured o things to be done …NOW….. What happened to letting on about this months ago.. and the priority level of this stuff is not up to the level of what my boss want's done now. Every other thing added means whatever was waiting goes back farther. Really. If you have a deadline… I will try but I am getting burned out by the constant barrage. Hah.. even when I drop things to push out something quickly .. what happened.. these people lose it and tell me I must get it to them again asap.. Who lost what? I have docs saying when I mailed it to you… and now you are hassling me again…. Sigh. Do I have to register every damn thing I mail out? And you are paying for it?

Cuervo is an old town on Route 66 that is melting back into the red clay is was built out of. You can even buy the town if you are interested. I tried to pull all but the red into the edit. It would have been too red.. so I went with the brownish gold of the brush. Then add some scraggly stuff you would find at the bottom of a stairwell... 

I laughed at this sign.. There wasnt a place that skateboarders would want to skate in the first place...Non edited except for the toning.

This was a standard sign I edited back to clean and leaned back.

Tough edit here... I am using a photography editing program to do illustrating..... not easy.

I would love to see a mag lev train.. on the ground or in the air. Low maintenance and no UNIONS to cause problems. That is the major problem with mass transit right now. Strikes, over prices to pay for union dues and other types of money grubbing thievery.

I was in a space that I could swing my arms around and easily touch the canvas ....and now.......... Not touching it...and that hand is just on the other side out of touch. Talk to me about reality. When you have to endure the company of others.. that you would never stand next to if you didn't have to... seconds are years and you skin itches .... So much travel! Yikes. Can't wait for an ASA to grace our office again. It took up my whole day just doing three travel sets. Chasing airplane tickets, hotels, and the myriad of other small items that have to be on these things. Yikes in the yikes mode. Instructive and in a learning mode its quite interesting but daily its a bit much. Eye are crossed… even if you can see it. That and a computer that is running half speed… or is that the caffeine speaking. Never mind.. I got some more thins done which always makes me happy. Then it was onto property and searching for codes, serial numbers and again.. more minor but important things. I am way behind on my filing and consolidations program. Hoping I can get with it in the very near future.

I took a break from the Tube Station signs to play with a few more foliage shot edits.. then I went back to the signs again. What I was trying to do was create a sign that seemed to be hanging in space. It took a while and I did it but it was less than stellar. I was okay but totally unreal. Too uniform. Its a fun idea but not there yet in the ability. While thinking about that I bounced to … what would a sign look like if there was a tube station or transfer station say. In New York? What would it look like? I just may have to do one to see… Problem is that these take hours to do. Hours that I never notice until its around 9m wish and I need to pack it up. Bad to spend three hours on a test idea. I don't expect there are many people out there mixing it up as much but its novel to push that limit as far as it will go.  I have an idea again for underground signage… hehehe… I'll try one after dinner.

If you can hear your heartbeat all the time.. and like your nose, you can see it all the time but your brain writes it out of your view... and.... going there... that you can smell something...especially pungent things for about three minutes before your sense of it is shunted to the bit bucket... ( do you know what a bit bucket is?)... can you really sit there and make me believe that we are "really" here? Even Einstein knew there were provisos to every equation and every truth.... Consider the physical universe.... and there are gaps in some of the portions.... One pico second passes on raising my arms. Imminent change state.. and I am trying to raise my arms. Faster...... Or slower?
