10 more daily's?

I talked about going to a weekly blogging instead of a daily. Daily is very trying. Coming up with interesting insights and novel information and not just using it as a vent zone. As much as I would love to continue it as a daily item it really does consume a lot of mental time hunting up photographs or web sites or pithy comments to harangue you all about.

I have at times gotten off on tracks south O' San Berdoo and not gotten back and ambled over to deep arroyos and went looking at rabbit tracks in the dry and wind blow dust... So I think on the 776th blog it will pause to reset to... I think Sunday.. Let me check... I could daily up to 776 and then pick up the 777th on the 20th Of September. This might give me time to start loading select photographs to my web site instead of completely ignoring it.. That would also allow me to choose some highlight shots for the blog instead of what ever suits my fancy that day or night or last minute. Yes.. Lets say we try that for a bit and see how it goes.... That would leave me off for part of the upcoming Fiesta... Wow... And after Fiesta there wont be a daily FB banner change either.... wow.... what to do with all that time I don't know.... Well I will find out....

Being that its day 25/24 if you are doing the Albuquerque Aloft ( which I am )..Less days... There are quite a few things left to do too. I looked at my list with pencil ready to check things off when I found that what we had completed with the painting and patching and that all... was not on the list. A general clean up was on but not the painting..... So I added it so I could then.. check...it ... off! Which I did with satisfaction. Our poor cast iron tub is such a sad thing. Nice because once you put hot water into it it stays warm but its worn down so much that you cant get the dingy-ness out of it anymore. I expect it will have to be replaced someday or if I can find a reliable person to re-enamel it it could go on for some more years. Well.... there are more things to do but today was the down day... and then there were things done..nothing major.. just parts of parts o the list.

Tomorrow work starts up again.. for two days then I have to take off because I have gardeners coming to raise the weed bed in front and lay out barrier and if possible trim up my purple sage. Because of all the bending over its getting done instead of me doing it. Then other bits to do. Too hot this morning to work outside and I got yelled at when I looked aside at the garage.... So tomorrow or Thursday probably I will be doing that while the work men set my front arights.

Because of all this incoming stress... I edited up some more relaxing photos for my wallpaper at home and work.

Just calming reeds, pads and water and a few fluffy stems....

The white in the bathroom and hallway are pretty calming too.. hope it stays white... it will be easier to clean I know that.

I decided to edit up the logo banner a bit with a nice black and white of one of our good Zebras ( Launch Directors ( You have to have them because 500 plus balloons means for major congestion ). It came out quite nicely. You should be able to zoom in a bit on it even with its limited dpi.

Fun and now time to get a few other things done.....

Educational afternoon and evening

I spent this morning touching up the painting in the guest bath. Its as good as its going to get. So much repainting as the paint decided to stick to the tape and caused me to pull off the paint itself. IF I were to do this again I would for sure remove all plug covers and other attachments so that didn't happen again.. I think also I would BUY A BLOOMIN PAINT SPRAYER!  Flippen one coat paint didn't coat in one coat!

I did get on with more Fallout 3 NV ( I hate watching paint dry ). For some reason its now called Clean Out New Vegas as I seem to just keep cleaning... Everything possible to be picked up must be picked up. Wow... Again I also seem to have to put all the teddy bears I find on the bed. Must be something from my childhood. WHAT I DON'T KNOW! I didn't nuke anything I didn't have to this time which was nice.

This afternoon was an enjoyable visit and deep fry turkey get together and an interesting conversation on all things... but also about Whiskey and why its not spelled Whiskey if the Whiskey comes from outside the US or Canada... Like.. Whisky... from Japan... Very interesting. Still could barely try a sip of a few of the amazingly beautiful colored bottles... just not a drinker.. I have no referent. I would rather drink ice cold milk and eat cherry pie... I just cannot get my head around drinking to drink even if my instructor of the day explained to me over and over again that its not drinking to get drunk but to enjoy that "very expansive and totally wasted on me ( My words ) wonderfully woody or mossy or .. well.. I just have no palate nor ability to enjoy them. From their colors I would expect them to be sweet and delicious but I cant get past the aftertaste... I dunno...

I really enjoyed the chats going on... about Whiskey and its trappings... different types of liquors and other items and visits to distillery's and that... plus a cool visit with a concealed carry instructor.. which was totally cool and the other great talks from everyone else. So to me.. I enjoyed a great afternoon of visiting punctuated with slight tastes of funny things... Below are some pictures of the three main items on the table. All were interesting.. I will comment below..


This was a Japanese Whisky ( no E ). Very woody tasting.. Like a piece of plank in your mouth. Not bad but?!?! Not milk. Beautiful golden orange honey color.

And a Kick it was... I am tasting  less than quater pinky of these...  I can see this being a kick. An astringent or almost black licorice smell.. tasted like nothing but the burn of the jalapeno was quite evident at the end. Cant taste the alcohol through the pepper. Nice but not Milk.

Going to smack you with a wet sock.. take that sock and put rocks in it then hit you over the head with it.... Amber colors were amazing... tasting it was dangerous in the tongue curling up and you biting it to get the feeling back. Definitely not milk and not for easy sipping.

Wonderful hosts and loved that I could get a bit of a taste of some things I would never in my life go near nor even get a chance to get near in my lifetime. The deep fried turkey ( and great side dishes ) was excellent and all in all a wonderful time. There is talk of caravanning to a distillery up in Wyoming... I think with a stop off at the parents on the way for a visit.. I will go for sure but I will go to take pictures of the amazing colors and everything else that goes along with the trip... Plus the positives of hanging out with these fun people is acceptable even though they don't drink milk.

A card I have to have made... A very good thing to have in your possession these days... Not saying its necessary nor really needed nor that it would be ever used but nice anyways. I learned a lot from the short conversation on the laws of the land and rights and all.. very instructive. I will for sure signup for a class after Fiesta is over.

Even photographers get rousted sometimes... even though there is a law stating you have the right to take pictures of anything publicly... its happened.

Another batch of things to remove from the list Monday.... remember.. Monday is the list updating day. We painted and painted... At first hopes were high and it looked like a short job of it.. One "T" hallway and a bathroom! What could be hard about that... Nothing they said! Thems being the ones running for the high grass as soon as the side boat hits the shore! Five doors... three other doors of varying sizes, two vents, large and medium, two lights and one fire alarm unit... one door bell... Oh and two light switches.. that was the hall.... It took ages just to tape it all off and since the ceiling was being painted too all the doors had to be covered as well.. they are dark wood so paint flecks would be seen clearly.... Not that my taping was  amazing and yes.. there are some bleeds on the edges but I be not a professional Pirate.. just a shallow shoal Captn of industry! Begone with ye!

Now the bathroom was going to be a bugger and we knew that going in.... It was green... and a green that was not wanting to be hidden... Even with primer paint it has taken .. well its still going on.... two coats in most places and some three... and then there was the double plus dammed commode tank to fight with.. and then we lost a towel rack and that made a fine hole in the scuppers... Finding spackle and getting it workable; another task to fight with.... Mirrors... sheet rock that needs replacing after Fiesta... Floors needing scrubbing which will be done after the painting is complete..... Flippen day of back braking work.... Not happening again!...No really... There wont be a next time because I am selling as soon as I can! HAH! I am going to have the walls of my condo sheathed in aluminium and the floors concrete.. that way everything can be hosed off... no more painting!

We chose to use a satin slightly off pure white and it is very clean looking. Nice and bright. As soon as I can find a soul to install a solar tube it will be very nice and bright in the hallway. But before that there is the electrician for the bathroom fan.. then the plumber for the tap replacements and then door people for the back sliding glass door then the tube.... Yup.. Not happening before Fiesta though. Soon but not that quick.....

Whew... Tomorrow is rest and a party to go to.. Monday is sit in Zombie Chair and vegetate.  Pictures for tonight are from the Field visit again.. some more different views....

Friday cleaning... You can tell its getting close to Fiesta... We do fall cleaning.. Painting is set for tomorrow as today we had to go get more paint... and we almost had to pay for the paint we brought in to color match... Yeesh! See the old paint on the rim and the wipe off marks and the date.. Oh well... perhaps people try to steal whole gallons of paint in the middle of the afternoon...They just might.

Beside running down to crazy land for supplies there was quite a time getting all the other mundane work done that seems to take forever but is really just time consuming because you are always waiting for something to complete so you can begin again. I did figure out Fallout 3 at last... You know what those sneaky damn game creators did.... they made a game that teaches you to clean up around you. I am forever going through the game picking up old burnt books or plates or cans or empty bottles!!! Yeah! Its a freakin cleaning game! I expect you could let your kids play the game for a while and then tell then that if they can collect all the things in their room and put them in specific places you would pay them a fee for each thing..just like in the game... And if you can collect everything in the room ( i.e. Everything off the floor ) they could win an upgrade! A Hamburger... Call it FallHouseCleaning 3! Less Monsters more hamburgers! It was better to get off the game and clean the reality instead... So.... Two guest rooms cleaned and ready for friends and family! A light dusting prior to their arrival and put on the fresh linen and we are good! Tomorrow we paint! Plans for Sunday too but a nice dinner visit to go to in the afternoon.. so it will be a good thing. Checking things off my list is for Monday.

I had more things to show from my walk about the Fiesta Park area.... A thought sparked in my head too while editing the pictures for tonight... In simplicity is beauty. That curve or double curve... that small detail...

Platanus x acerifolia, or London Planetree, is a large, stately and beautiful tree. It can reach 70-100 feet high with a spread of 65-80 feet. It has a moderate to fast growth rate. The large branches create an open form under the canopy that highlights the exfoliating bark that the tree is famous for. It prefers well-drained soils but is extremely adaptable to any soil type except for boggy soils. There is debate about how cold hardy it is, though there enough beautiful specimens in Cache Valley to conclude that it will perform well here.

Time for a well deserved snack.....

Field Visits

Its like sneaking down to the living room before Christmas morning.. albeit... with less presents.. more heat and grass.... but it was kinda fun.. There was one thing that needed unwrapping.. that was Sid's statue.. It was covered head to toe.. Funny that.Hhe probably would think so.

I mean the clouds and sky were about perfect for taking pictures at the Balloon Fiesta Field... PARK!

Just when I thought I would be at work late which would make it impossible to go to the field... the net link came back up and I finished my paperwork. So off at 3 and run down or up I 25 to Alameda.. Off at speed... rip around the corner and back under the highway... down to Balloon Park Way and past the Museum... Came to an abrupt stop at the corner going down onto the field by a guy picking up a sign.... He just waved me around so off down.. quick right.. down left and stop at the cross of two taxi ways.... Hop out.. line up a good shot of the Sid Cutter Pavilion.. best I could do to recreate last nights old Pilots tent with Museum in the background shot... then run around taking pictures of the sky and grass and things.... Like Sid's statue being covered in moving blankets and a tarp.... Go figure. The shot position was not perfect as they still have to golfing fences up and the original shot was farther West.. no problem in about three weeks. I just wanted it for the 30 day to 29 day banners....

So after the field shots I ran up to the museum.. well.. so many distractions in between and I was not sure exactly what I was wanting to take pictures of but had that feeling that it might be worth a walk outside the front / North facing windows... it was worth it. So... I wandered around in the 90 degree temps.... low humidity though.. nice that.... and got what I wanted.... Museum was free too..

Out~thoughts while doing this... there are some very teeny tiny white bugs all over the ground by the big bucket in the sky.... real tiny.... super tiny.... I dunno what the were but they were bugging around quickly... So I got my shots and moved on to another new sculpture that seemed to be a cross between some Inca carving and steam punkish resting seat thing. looked kinda okay for a seat. All these things that caught my eye... will show up here in the next 29 days.... but for now... four.... then the banner and logo for today.

Logo...

I thought that I would highlight some important worries in my banner logo each day... parsed out here and there.... We shall see.... We shall see... False lift is a big worry when you are trying to launch quickly from the field and the air gets between your envelope and the ground and lifts you up but your not hot enough to stay up and you come down... quickly and unhappily....

I gave up trying to get my logo done myself before Fiesta and handed it off to a professional.... Time has expired on my patience and I do not have time to learn quickly enough... but darn it! I will learn...! ( Storm clouds overhead.. on hands and knees on a dirt track..pounding a puddle with a muddy fist!~ )  I WILL!!!    Get it all done up and perhaps some new pins.... Dammit! Heh!

Going to pick up paint tomorrow and get rollen!  Hope your Labor Day weekend has less labor and more day! Safe travels those heading to Colorado Springs for the big rally there... Perhaps next year.

Thirty Bleepin Days!!!

No, I'm not freakin out.... Not me... in reality there are twenty nine days till Fiesta..... NOW I'M FREAKIN OUT!

Okay... suggestion 1 of getting on a train on the 29th and heading to Alaska has been killed.... suggestion 2 of changing names, moving into a condo somewhere and growing huge mustachios has been shorn....suggestion 3 is to have everyone bring a sponge and cleaning solution, a brush with paint, carpet cleaner, buckets, a massive amount of duct tape or gallons of WD 40 are still up in the air. We have hopes that elves will show up and take care of everything.

I can say that the Cloudbouncer is done and on its way... many days early... Not as fast as I would like but there ya go. Its a lot of construction that happened over the last week to get it set. Just waited for a few more pieces of information. Looks like I am going to have to up the resolution even though some mailboxes cant receive it due to their size limitations... no problem there. AAAA is doing good things to get it out.

Massive amount of online training done today... whew.. I know for a fact I am going to have to go back and review a lot of sections.... its very complicated stuff and its going by very quickly. Like a hose squirting and that poor dog at the end can only snap up a slight mouthfull and it splashes everywhere... that's how it feels. Woooosh!

Since there is so much to do in these next 29 days ... and my list isn't getting shorter... Well.. one thing is down and next week a few other things get removed.... This weekend is the house work weekend.. while everyone else is out partying and ballooning and carrying on I will be elbows to paint and vacuum.. Gotta take the time I ave when it comes around....Oh.. so .. yeah... something other than ballooning pictures would be nice... so .. some nice relaxing wall paper...

Soothing all.. okay. maybe not the cacti..... just keep your fingers to yourself!

You will not see this huge tent this year.... The new Sid Cutter Pavillion is now standing here. it will do the same duty during Fiesta as this big thing but it is so much more classy and cool and it will be used all year long for other gatherings. Cool huh!

DOUBLE MONDAYS!!!

Not really..... But it sounded like it after I got out of Harbor Fright and Walmart. Gritting your teeth as you stand idle in the isle while some munch has its cart cross ways so you cant get but and totally ignores your "excuse me" was so awesome today.... And going round and round and round in HF looking for tie off loops....Its their plan to not let you get out of the store before you buy something that you didn't need.... I made it by buying two of one thing I did need.. woo hoo!.... I did find the tie offs too.. they were in the opposite side for the store from the other same type but not things.

Now if I can just get through the remainder of the day without something falling apart we can call it even!

No.. the work part of the day was just fine. Weird but fine. Not weird in the .. oh I found a moose in my dipping egg... but weird in the...If I could just close the books on one thing at a time that would be cool.... Kinda thing. But I have a good feeling about the next set of days and hope to close a few things up before anyone can stop me.

My mind rebelled against anything but the above picture and banner and logo of balloons today... Very odd but not unusual at this time of the year when you know you have a massive amount to do to get ready for Fiesta and you just want to curl up in a ball.... Well.. if that ball had home made Oreo cookies in it and you got to eat them calorie less.... with cold cold milk! Yea!.... So I went and got some tone ( overly ) mapped shots that might make nice backgrounds and made backgrounds of them.... It was okay to do....
