Another day another observation. Yeah baby!
I spent time with a bunch of High School kids... Directionless and looking for something. Even though they didnt know it they were looking. It was inspiring and somewhat confounding. I remember those days.
Onward and Upward as they say.... Who says this I dont know... but they do! Go... To infinity and....
Well you get the drift.
The video I was editing yesterday evening cratered hard. I hate when you work very hard and long at a project and it falls apart at the last moment... I could just sit here and stare at it or ... ( read the Onward thing ).
Lets hit those do's and dont's while they are fresh... We went over the major parts of a balloon and I will go deeper into it after the do's and dont's thing... so here goes..
Do... do talk to your Pilot and crew.
Do ask them tons of questions.
Do take pictures of everything.
Do walk around and peek into everything
Do enjoy yourself
An avid crew member sitting on the envelope bag after landing and packing away... totally enjoying himself.
There are more of these too.. just a few... no need to overwhelm.
Dont.. Dont step on the balloon fabric or lines.
Dont smoke ( propane go boom! ) ( more on that later ).
Dont get in front of the fan.
Dont wrap any lines around your body parts ( no bondage thanks ).
Dont touch the burners ( they hot! )
This is a picture of a crew member holding lines correctly. Awesome!
More on the dont's later too.
In blog 4 I talked about the three major parts of a balloon.. There is more.
Ill throw some words at you..
Crown.
Throat.
Skirt.
Scoop.
Kevlar lines.
Drop Line.
Fan.
Red Line.
Green Line.
Black Line.
Step.
Teather.
Crown Line.
Handle.
Fan.
Velcro Tab.
Spring Top.
Drop Line.
Chase Vehicle.
Instruments.
Radios.
Vent or Vents.
A lot huh! Thats most of some of the terms for parts of the balloon or some of the equipment we need to fly...
Question time.... What is the most important thing needed in ballooning? Barring the Pilot as he / she is probably far too full of themselves already... Guess!?
I will post the explanation to the terms above tomorrow.
Cheers!
