The weather was supposed to be terrible. The winds high and the possibility of moisture in the air.
As it turned out for a brief moment it was calm on the field and as such about six or so balloons stood up... teathered and one brave soul.. lifted off for a 9 minute 300 yard flight. It was amazing.

Here's the funny thing.....
I ran into a gentleman who had just popped up next to me and asked about the balloons... I looked about at this kind voice and said... "balloons"? He wanted to know what was the best place to take pictures of them taking off... ahh.... He had seen my camera sitting in my hands.... I said something about the direction of the sun coming up over the Sandias to the East and the balloons most likely taking off from North to South in the drainage winds that it would be smart to stand about the middle to the South East corner of the field..... great pictures from there.... if they took off that way.
Sometimes they dont...
So we chatted and I found out that he had just moved from Atlanta... the City of.... and that he was now living here. First time around balloons... I was stunned! This was exactly who I am trying to reach with my blog! Wow.. what a chance to tell him all about this.... But with the way things go and time and the crowd of Pilots and Crew it was near impossible to pass along much. I did get a lot of shots and I did make sure he knew he was very welcome to go out on the field and get with the people and have fun... which he did. I saw him.. no kidding I did! I hope he comes out tomorrow so I can pass along this blog for him to read.
The whole day was fun.... so much to tell... but I will leave that off till tomorrow as there is another day of it and I dont want to go into it twice... Just know that there are some cool people out there that are happy to see balloons.... Which makes us Balloonists very happy because someone new is coming into the family... we like that... Especially when they are nice people!
Tomorrow is another day out in the cold cold cold with wonderful friends who warm you up!
OH!! AND THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
