Off the beaten track

We just had steak, sauteed mushrooms, corn and green beans for Mother's day dinner. Early dinner and Mary made it all... I will go out and get Rudys BBQ turkey and brisket for Fathers day. Heh! We refuse to go along like everyone else. Nor are we interested in fighting crowds and loud places to eat out. We are sitting on a nice Sadies free outing and have yet had the time or the want to go.. maybe some other time.. like... who knows..LOL. So funny. The green beans were nice. Steak was awesome.

Kicked butt today and reorganized the garage. All the bins are positioned better and items with like items. All my cables are consolidated but not sorted. Too many of everything to get there yet. I did set everything up now so that the mattresses from the second guest room ( computer room ) can be sealed in plastic and strapped up in case we ever need two rooms again. Right now... its still not switched out. I will do that as soon as I have more time. About two hours of back breaking work moving super heavy bins around and transferring stuff from one to another. About two hours and my back starts to sound like a very abused plastic articulated toy... the screeching and rubbing sounds and feeling are ugly. Now its just sit and work through the pains. Oh well.

It was even sprinkling for a while and then the winds came up and blew about. I didn't get the inside equipment and mini bins done as I have nowhere to put that stuff yet. I did put the little pieces and parts containers inn a better order so that its easier to pull them out. How the heck to sort and store all the bits of a camera system... cables, filters, batteries, chips, connectors and stuff.. yeesh...

I did think about buying a 50mm lens to put on the second D300 and start using it instead of just letting it sit there. I wont remove a lens in the field and only under the least dusty area I can find. So setting each cam up with a lens.. 18-200, 10.5 and then 50mm would be nice. I also thought about getting a copy of windows 8 for the big blue computer so I can have the same platform as the surface and then maybe run all the hard drives off that one then use drop box to move things around. I normally just use a bug thumb drive to work from. Its much easier to carry around. They are cheap too.

I dug up a few very old pictures to beat the hell out of. I wanted to see what would happen if I throttled them and they came out rather well if a little small. They wont blow up well as they were taken with 1 and 2 mpix cameras... great at the time but now are so sad its... well......sad.

Quiet rides.
Spooky as all get out too.

Hotpad Lights
These are the old hot pad lights at the Roswell airport when it used to be a bomber base. The light only shines outward and is sheilded on the inside. They are all gone now. I tried to get permission to remove some but it never came and they were scrapped... very sad.

Sunbreakers.
Even with the power lines behind and I believe I could have edited them out with time I liked it as it was. Everyone of these were going to pixalate as soon as I touched them... No biggie.. it was fun.

The other thing I ran into and I salute a good facebook friend for postin it was the operation of the J 611 steam engine. A short clip but I was able to hunt down some great video on youtube .... amazing power and the sounds are pretty freakin cool.

Check it out.

The power and weight of this engine is pretty awesome to see. I would love to be next to it and get my own pictures and video as well as feel the powerful damn thing. Pretty excellent.

Amtrak would be fun too.. maybe an excursion to Las Vegas or Kansas to LA you know... nice and quick turnaround trips. So.. those are some interesting thoughts for the night... Would you get a nice seat on the top of the train or go for the cabin and its comfy solitude. Amtrak isn't a steam engine but cool still.

Woosh.. Lots of subjects there to think about....

Facebook banner for the DAY!!!

I liked this shot because you can see the shadow of another balloon in the background taking off. Lots of layering.

Logo for the day are my carabiners and the loops I had Aerco sew onto the edge of my scoop so its easier to put it away and set it up. Nifty cool.

Off to contemplate many things... Like.. can we run two Cat6 lines to the Upper Air building.. Which way can I set the VoIP phones up to make them work better. Where did I put instructions for resetting peoples passwords in our Active Directory.. gee.e... It might be easier to have out ITO re-show me so I can re-write it again... then there is VDU placements and Camera placements and extending cat lines past 100 meters... sign... Well yeah.. lots to think about...

Yeah.....
