Numpire

Ambling back to the chair after pulling this very obscure book from my pocket and plopping back into it with lack of good guidance. Not terrible but well...not very agile. smoothing my natty blue jacket and laying out the book. Slow and deliberate this time. Open to page one. Nothing still. Drawing my finger over it it feels like heavy vellum but to squeeze it between my fingers it feels thin.. too thin not to pass light if you look through it towards a light. Nada. Flipping to page three its very unremarkable as it was torn in half just a while ago. It is the same book because I can feel it still warm. Also it has the same burrs where it has been worn. Besides that, its new looking. Bringing it up to my eyes its has a very light swirling pattern and the spine has a strange spiral marking... looking closer at the marking, there is a blinding light!!

Normally I would get very upset if my schedule was interrupted for any reason,. Those days seem to be past. I could only wish that I didn't have three competing items to deal with at one time. Errors crop up when my attention is diverted. A small diversion this morning turned out to be a big thing. Not bad, just necessary to deal with it right away. That took quite a while. After that it was lunch time or for me, snack while doing another thing. No, its all good. I ended up the day wanting to get out on time and had two things I was doing at one time and one was trying my patience a lot. It got done but It was with an exhausted walk out the door that I went home.

I made good time and was able to sit down before the barking started about me not sitting down. So I sat. While I was sitting I worked on the culvert shots I had taken a while ago and didn't know what to do with them. I decided they needed to be wide so that they would make a great wall hanging. They turned out pretty good but I will want to go back and take some better ones soon. So here you are.. below are some interesting ( to me only maybe ) covers.

Deeter Storm.

Signal, Are you reading me Kenneth?

Texas Star.

Weather Art

Sitting back in my comfy chair, Fire is down a bit. Tossing a few chunks of coal on brings it back and pushes back the child working its way in from the windows. No, I am not about to advertise my location by pulling them back to look out. Thinking on the trip to the crystal palace tomorrow, is there a scarf I can use to cover my face… Oh! I haven't even started to look around this set of rooms. Too much trouble and too little sitting still make a beady want to just stop moving, not ripple the air nor force the mass against the spinning globe. Prattling again. One large wardrobe against the side wall. Two mirrors… Yep.. I have no clue who’s face this is standing with my soul attached. Opening the doors shows a varied and large amount of clothing. All from this period my rear brain says. Its the one laughing up my sleeve. Shucking off my coat and putting it on a hanger inside. Looks to be a smoking jacket, Nice and deep blue, Fits perfect as well. Do I have a twin? Do I smoke…. Yes I know my brain has been par-broiled but hay…

Thursday like Wednesday with a little difference. Got out Science officers desk in place and its very nice. I would love one if I could stand up and work. Its a very nice work surface. And it powers up and down.. from a sitting desk to a standing desk at the touch of a button. All cool. No though there are no drawers in it. I did order two lazy Susan type pencil drawers that look cool and I gave up one of my file cabinets,, not that that is a big deal. I will give up the other tomorrow. Mostly paperwork today. A few items purchased for the operations staff. Nothing much. I did get the special projects lists updated and ready to go. Another excel spread sheet. Done and done!

I tilt shifted a bunch of pictures. Just to see how they would work. I will add them below and my observations. They are as I said very easy to do in PhotoShop. Its fast and complete. LOL. Oh I shot an office staff picture this morning. I shot about six and one with myself in it. Turns out that the best shot was one that I was not in. So I did a little magic and edited myself out of one shot and into the background of the good shot. You can't tell. Its good when you can't tell. I even got my legs in there. HAH! The power of manipulation! Pic turned out very good.

Uptilt
 Its okay.

 Downtilt
 A little too close.

Slight downtilt.
 Very nice.

More things for me to go look at.

It was a Crop Job.

Well, there is a bazaar going on. Baker street...that sounds familiar. Stockholders, Receipt, dividends....blah blah blah.. Oh.. well that makes my heart jump a bit. Balloon Ascents. From the grounds of the Chrystal palace. Oh well an Aeronautical Society. Why is that familiar or interesting to me. I think I will follow that up tomorrow. More pages..... flip flip, rustle rustle, Baths, Baptist churches... Baths... clang! So familiar. Almost heartbreaking familiar.. Why I had a bath.. nothing thought of there.. Bath.. not a bath bath perhaps a place. Is there a book or map somewhere. Hmm.. Close to tea time I expect.. Another quest for my very helpful maid. Elementary... or something like that.

I ching. Baffled. Very long meeting today. Very constructive and I am happy about it. I forwarded a lot of ideas and some were good and some were bad but I had to say them just to get them out there. I suggest, my Boss works with that. What he says goes and that's fine with me. I do ideas and justifications, he hones that and clarifies my thoughts. Not too bad. I am enjoying myself. I am a bit tired though. Not of work but not getting enough rest at night. Too much waking and too little deep sleep. I got off on time or a little after today and went to the store then home. I was dragging coming in. Now sitting and resting I can feel a little energy coming back.

I ran a few shots through the ringer last night and edited them for wide angle. No time to go shoot anything so I have to do this. Ideas and suggestions about. I was talking to our Science officer today about photography and such and she said her son heard about a photography get together for low light shooting. I wished I would have known. I would love to do that. So I asked for more info... Better to be in a group in the dark than by yourself. Here are the choices for today...

Sandia Glow

Poor Grouping

As I hear a tapping at the door its time to tuck the pulsing book of noodles into my coat. “Enter please”, or some words to that effect.. and its not a killer or dog catcher, its my maid with the paper. Thanking her and watching the sway of her…. Well the gazette. Wonderful, Date… crap! 1879! Oh okay.. That feels like a long time ago and also a blink in my mind. How strange that I feel comfortable in the now. From the other two or three places I have been this is nice and quiet. So 1879. What's going on in the news….

SCREEAAAMMMMming speed… Full Ahead… Rock the windows out of their frames. So much done so much to do.
I keep thinking, fish or cut bait, fish or cut bait. Well fishing first as there is a time limit to dipping my hook into the water. Cutting bait will have to be done in those holes between. A busy day of many different things. Interesting. Never thought I could be busier but its a daily rush to finish up at the end of the day and sometimes past the end of the day. I like it, no doubt about it. I do want some time to spend doing personal things like this though. The other day I finished up just in time to go to bed. Even at home I rarely and doing one hinge. Normally two to three.

Last night I ran through the shots and selected some more from this weekend to tone out. Mainly to see what could be picked up in it. I do love the depth I am getting now. You can really see it if you full screen a shot. I have more to upload to my website soon. That way you can see them too. I will post some below. Plus some funny things. I really like funny things. More smile wrinkles than frown wrinkles before I die ( adjusted outlook on time space ). here ya go!

All of the shots today are as shot.

Nuclear Lemons.

Idly waiting, it seems I have a moment to look a that book a little closer. Its very warn as I pull ir out. Opening the cover shows absolutely nothing. Alright! Page three….. page three is one solid sheet of vellum! Not torn, not taped, not nailed! Interesting enough its also blank….. La la lala.. I had might as well sing as no a damn thing is working the way its supposed to work in the known universe…. Wait a minute…. Known universe… Oh that's just tripe on top of custard.. and I think I detest custard. Flipping through the whole book is page after page of nothing. Who would knock me out and chase me around and hunt me down for a blank book…. Yes, yes I know it was full of code sets before, but if so where are the now. Invisible ink!!! That's it.. I need some lemons. Or, or…. Margarita sounds better. Slapping it closed in frustration it vibrates in my hand. Is it going to explode or just purr? Should I fling it across the room for safety or will that just make me have to pick it up after it fails to go off. Touching the cover to my cheek I can feel it almost pulsing. No.. its not eating my face… Weird damn book.

Douglas Adams once wrote. ( pun ) I have read his books so I know he writes. They are very funny in the way he goes on. I wish I had the talent. He narrates his stories. I am going to have to give it a try some time. How bout now. As we wwatch our intrepid but stalwart fellow heading into the office in that red truck, well it would be red if there wasn't so much dust attached from numerous sad drippy rains that flop into Albuquerque. They wet your vehicle enough to cement the aforementioned dust to it then sloppily move out as if to say… I just can't be bothered with a good gully-washer.

But I did get to work and I had only two certifiable morons try to being my particular time space location at the same time as I was. Both being white or sliver and small. I expect they were classified under the heading “People who have no clue that a tiny can will get run over roughshod if the try to drive into big red trucks”. Silly people. Work was nice, hectic… but it usually is. Paperwork.. or computer work was all of numbers and tally and property and such. I do like numbers if they are in nice columns and add up correctly. That and the amount of stuff that is heading our way to do is also pretty daunting. Tomorrow jeans and semi nice shirt since I think I will be on the ground and running cables most of the day except for the filling out travel paperwork. Its interesting too.

The pictures I took yesterday were very nice. I didn't really have to tone anything but the ones that had dark spots. I was shooting almost into the sun and the contrast was too much for the camera. I will put some down below. I tried a few things here and I will explain what I was going for for each picture.

Localized Sun Spot
This picture didn't need toning but I did it anyway. The starkness of the burn knocks out the blue sky. I was trying to get the test burn and the sun spots.

Rivals.
This balloon is again starkly colourful against the Sandia's

Shadow Flags.
I was trying to get a crisp shot of the flags shadows but the wind and the envelope were flexing too much.

Quarter Z.
A nice set up. Burner in lower left, Crown in upper right. Nice and balanced.

Chevrons and Beats.
Close closeup. The clash of colours and the boldness of the designs brings it in your face.

Equator Check.
The good way to do one. Another contrast. Basket in the air against the middle of the back balloon. Toned to bring out the shadows.

Taking the balloon for a walk.
More contrasts. Close balloon, nearby crown crew, crew by truck, Molina building and balloons behind. five or six levels and all have activity and clarity.

Purple Twilight.
Again. Balloons are great to get right up to and make them feel like they are in your face. It is how it is when you are really there on the field with them. I love pennants, but don't have any on my balloon.

And my links I found interesting today.

Signs. Most are fine but in a stack they can get confusing. Wen in Europe they are confusing. Glad we have GPS now and as long as you use them with caution its all good..

The price is far too steep to me but if you are thinking the zombie apocalypse is coming you might want to get in on this.

I am not sure this is as good as just leaving it dark. I feel like I would be waiting for the burn to come from…

More nuke stuff. There has to be an easy and neutral way to remove or breakdown radiation poisoning.

As I said before.. Go Get U Some!

Artworks.

Lets try something a little less difficult. Walking to the wall beside the bed and pulled the strap for the bell. Not a sound... If it works I might get some answers soon. Twisting around a chair to face the door and positioning myself on the edge because I do not want to sit on the tails of my nice spiffy coat! Weeee.
Tapping at my door so quickly. "Please come in", I speak in a nice soft lower London accent. And the door unlocks and opens to show me my favorite chamber maid. Now lets see if she will say it? "You rang sir"?
AH HAH! I knew it... what it is I don't know but hay, it was fun. "Yes, could you please being me the evening paper"? "Right away sir, right away". Off she goes closing the door behind her. Standing up and walking to the door to re-lock it. Nice click and a secure feeling returns. Turning and pacing back and forth... I have heard it passes the time...

Very early morning. Almost couldn't get out of the bed. It was real time 5 am and subjective time 6 am. Body time felt like 3 am. Getting out to the Fiesta field ( park ) and in a by way getting coffee took quite a while. Though we still got there before they started the brief and yes it was cold.. did I say that? Well it was to the point that by the time all the balloons that were going to launched launched I had two frozen fingers. Painfully frozen fingers. I took 615 shots. I was testing out the camera and locating the best settings. Boy do I have to adjust things. I did get some great shots that I will post tomorrow. Oh, I did also get two great movie clips. Going to take some time to process that.

Last night I trolled my files looking for certain shots. Specific in their view, height and distance. I wanted to play with some tilt shifts. Check these out. It takes a specific type of shot to work. But with Photoshop they are so easy to do.

Puddle Jumpers

Dipping Toes.

Surface Breeze.

Follow The Leader.

Rio Rancho RC.

Paseo Pokey.

Specific angle and height and distance. Looks good.. looks ok. Better than paying 2000 dollars for the lens.

Some so so links.

Instead of numbers or letters they should use codes. Tango Lemonade line. Mint Julep line...

Poster Boy

Opening the book to the torn third page and lining up the ripped out page onto it, kinda, closing it up and tucking that into my right inside pocket of this very interesting coat. Hmm.. feeling a lot better physically if not mentally. I think its time to hunt down some of the illusive memories. Question, where do I start and which do I twist arms of? Ah! Time to see if we can make the maid sing as she is the closest to hand. How to go about that list of missing bits is the thing. Time is... check watch, pop open the cover and a beautiful tinkling starts up. Green sleeve pops to mind.. green sleeve... farmers song? No.... hmm... Quarter to twelve. How long was I standing there with that lens in my hand? An hour or three... Some mist clears in my memory and I can see that minx of a dark haired woman. I believe I know her intimately and that there has been sometime since I had set eyes on her. Now she comes back into my life and seems to hammer me to the ground. Where to go with that thought.

Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.

A comforting day inside with the gray and roiling clouds outside. I only ventured out to correct what I call
"an infinitely derisive systematic box of improbabilities" AKA cable box went out. Cable box went out right along with the cable modem and another box in another room. Quite interesting that. I had to go out and stand in the store and get another box and the box I got to replace the box was as bad as the box. Then rush home and hide from the h2O dropping from the sky. I have charged up the batteries and cleared the chips for tomorrow is another AAAA rally off of Fiesta Park. If its not raining. If its not windy. If its not earthshaking... At least there should be coffee.

I took the same process from the other day and kicked some edits along. Quite interesting effects. These will probably be printed and framed and sold. Pretty cool. I have to go back and look at others now. I want some fresh shots to play with too. I was hoping today to get something but even carrying the camera with me nothing was worth the stop. Ah well.. another day.

Since we were selected to be in the 2014 Albuquerque international Balloon Fiesta I created this banner using the years title and background and added everything else. My brother asked where the aliens were so he got aliens. Foolish Mon!
